With its sweeping decorative ironwork and gilded female bust, it was an extraordinary setting in which to purchase a piece of jewellery. The pin was acquired privately from a descendant of its original owner, who purchased it from Reis \u0026amp; Filhos, giving it a wonderful family history.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe pin bears Portuguese gold marks, believed to include the Porto tiger-head hallmark used between 1887 and 1937, associated with the traditional Portuguese gold standard of approximately 19.2 carats.
