Description
A beautifully romantic early 20th-century moi et toi ring, set in warm 18ct rose gold and platinum and bringing together two wonderfully individual gems: a natural saltwater pearl and an approximately 1.00 carat old-cut pear-shaped diamond.
The diamond has all the character one hopes to find in an antique stone, with its softly irregular pear shape and old-fashioned faceting. It has been assessed by GCS as approximately 1.00 carat, J–K colour and VS1–VS2 clarity.
Beside it sits an exceptionally romantic natural saltwater pearl, independently certified by GCS as a natural nacreous pearl with no indications of treatment. Its gently irregular natural form and soft white lustre are particularly lovely against the brilliance of the diamond.
The two principal gems curve towards one another in the classic moi et toi, “me and you” design, with further diamonds set into the shoulders. The contrasting white platinum settings allow the diamond and pearl to take centre stage, while the rose-gold shank gives the ring a wonderfully warm appearance.
The moi et toi design became particularly fashionable in France during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, its two principal stones representing two individuals brought together: distinct, equal and inseparable. Frequently chosen as engagement rings and love tokens, there is something especially poignant about this example, pairing the softness and organic individuality of a natural pearl with the permanence and brilliance of a diamond.
Pearls have for centuries been associated with purity, wisdom and devotion, while diamonds symbolise endurance and constancy. Together they create a lovely conversation between softness and strength, perfectly suited to the romantic jewellery of the Belle Époque and early 20th century.
Pearl engagement rings have also enjoyed a wonderful revival in recent years. Ariana Grande’s pearl and diamond moi et toi engagement ring and Emma Stone’s pearl engagement ring are modern echoes of a much older language of romantic jewellery, in which pearls were prized for their individuality rather than uniform perfection.

GCS report no. 5787-0141 confirms the approximately 1.00ct natural old-cut pear-shaped diamond, J–K colour and VS1–VS2 clarity.
GCS report no. 5786-4034 confirms the pearl as a natural saltwater nacreous pearl, white in colour, with good lustre and no indications of treatment.

Can a ring be re-sized?
Yes, the majority of our rings can be re-sized; unless specifically stated in the item description. Simply add your required size in the notes section at checkout, and we'll take care of the rest!
Please note: The first ring sizing is complimentary. Rings that have been sized by us can be returned as long as it’s within our 30 day return policy, however, we will deduct a charge of £50 for the ring sizing. Rings sized by other parties are final sale. Any second re-sizing is additional cost.
Do not know your ring size?
We would rather you get the size right first time rather than guess work so we recommend you size at later date unless you are sure. Ring sizing is not easy, especially if you do not know. Your fingers can wear up to three different sizes. We have tried to make it easier and you can purchase from us a ring size gauge measure with your order for £1. You can also read our sizing guide here.
We only want you to be happy. With 30 days for a free returns, two months for exchange and a year after purchase for your complimentary resize. (We hope this helps those who do not know their partner’s ring size).
How long does re-sizing take?
Please allow an additional 5 working days to the delivery time. If you require your order for a particular date, please get in touch as soon as possible and we will do our very best to accommodate.
Can a product be resized after it’s been purchased?
Yes, you have a year after purchase to get your complimentary free ring size. Please note that not all rings can be resized. So please do get in touch if it is not clear on the ring’s description.

Do you offer layaway? Can I pay in instalments?
Yes! We have different ways of doing layaways.
Paypal is most popular or via bank transfer. We try to be as flexible as possible, so if you tell us what you need, we will agree the layaway terms on a case by case basis with you.
We usually offer a PayPal invoice over the period of 3 months, but can happily extend to 6 months if needed. We do not charge interest for instalment payments. Paypal invoice allows you to pay a partial payment whenever is convenient for you.
A 20% up front, non refundable, deposit is required to hold the item, and this counts towards the item total. Payment is then made over the following weeks and the final payment must be made by the agreed end date.
Please note, items bought on layaway are returnable, but the deposit is non refundable. Items are shipped once payment is completed. If payment is not made within the agreed time frame, we will try to work with you to agree a solution, but reserve the right to refund your money (bar the deposit) and re-list the item Please contact us directly to discuss further.
Does it come with a certificate?
Yes, we provide a Parkin & Gerrish certificate with your purchase.
All of our jewellery is checked and examined in house by Zuleika who is a professional gemologist and a FGA (Fellow of the Gemmology Association) and DGA (Diamond Member of the Gemmological Association).
The Parkin & Gerrish certificate is perfect to give to your insurance company along with a copy of the invoice. Please note, the certificate we provide is not a gemological certificate.
Some of our higher end jewellery will come with accredited gemological/diamond certification from a lab. If it does, it will be mentioned in the description. If it has not been lab certified, it is possible to provide such a certificate from a reputable London gemological lab. There is an additional non refundable charge for this, approximately £80 - 120 + VAT. Please get in touch with us to find out more.
Can I try on before I buy? I need help deciding!
As we are online-only, we offer virtual appointments with Zoom, WhatsApp & Signal video. We are more than happy to provide any additional photos, videos or details about the item/s via email and WhatsApp/Signal. How long will my order take to arrive?
We aim to dispatch as soon as possible, usually within 24 hours.
However, there infrequently might be a delay up to 72 hours.
