Antique and Vintage Sapphire Jewellery and Rings
Sapphire is known as a vivid blue hue, a fitting connection as its name originates from the Greek word for blue. Sapphires however, do come in every colour of the rainbow and confusingly, red sapphires are known as rubies! (It blew my mind when I first learnt this..!)
Sapphires, the September birthstone, are a popular choice for jewellery, known for their durability, hardness, and beautiful colouration. Composed of aluminum and oxygen, they are most famously found in Ceylon, Burma, and Kashmir, with the latter being renowned for its superior color and velvety appearance. Even the British Royal Family favours the elegant hues of sapphires, symbolised by Princess Diana's iconic engagement ring, now worn by Catherine, Princess of Wales.
Sapphires are also the perfect "Something Blue" for the wedding. We have some lovely sapphire tie pins, which make a lovely gift for a groom.
